Now, the new RTX 30 series is finally out for us; as people started reviewing different departments of this card, I decided to write mine too about my initial thoughts merging with the present-day benchmarks and performance tests. As you know, Nvidia promises some remarkable things that will have the new generation of graphics with twice of performance in every inch of their cards; the RTX 3080 is one of them for sure. The RTX 3080 is surprising going up against the performance tests for RTX 2080 and even suppress the RTX 2080 ti series with its twice performance. 4K gaming was never so incredible as it is now after the launch of RTX 3080. The RTX 2080 and 2080 ti can deliver the 4K gaming experience with double nuggets, but when we talk about maintaining stability and reliability as the core, the RTX 3080 beats everyone. With the new Ampere architecture and AI-powered DLSS technology 3080 series is going to dominate for the next 2-3 years without hurdles for sure. The card is even cheaper than the older generation RTX-20 series graphics cards. I’ve written many guides since the announcement made by Nvidia for their RTX 3000 series regarding the performance and 4k/1440p tests for the RTX 3080 card. I’m really impressed with what I’ve seen so far. In short, 4K gaming is very affordable now than before. You can play every favorite game you name it with the new 2nd generation Ray-tracing settings at stability now! Well, that’s enough for the introduction; now let’s heads up for the earnest discussion we all were looking for since the launch. I will answer each and every question on our social media platforms and forums for sure but before that, let’s try out each and everything this card has to offer to their consumers at a very super price. We will see the latest benchmarks, performance tests, hardware improvements, new features the 3080 series has to offer so far. Suggested Reading: Best Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Graphics Cards If you don’t mind the spoilers, let me tell you a few things first about this card is that the RTX 3080 founder’s edition is 34% faster than the 2080 Ti, 55 percent than the RTX 2080 Super, and almost 70 percent faster if we compared it with the 2080 founder’s edition. Even its amazingly crossing the Titan RTX with over 30% improvements. Just in case if you ask me about the settings on which I am writing these benchmarks, we gathered everything at the best ultra-settings. Even though this review is not on my own alone, we managed to set up an expert team together first while also used some trusted sources data as well. Now let’s move on to the next sections.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition: Specifications

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition: All Performance Tests & Benchmarks!

Various authentic sources got their hands on the new RTX 3080 cards. They started to write their benchmarks, too, so by the help of every precise data we gathered and our personal data, I will show you the real and honest standards with the specific setups.

Nvidia RTX 3080 Review For 1440P Gaming: Benchmarks Update 1.0

Testing 1440P and 4K with the same machine used for the RTX 2080 review two years ago. The specifications are Intel Core i7-7700k 4.2GHz 4-Core, PSU: Corsair 850W, SSD by Samsung model name Evo 970 EVO, Ram: Corsair model Vengeance 32 GB DDR4-3000, Mobo: Asus ROG STRIX Z270H gaming. The monitor used for this test is Asus ROG Swift PG279Q, as it supports 165 Hz of refresh rate with G-Sync compatibility. The most demanding games pinged up for these tests; some of them are Control, Death Stranding (one of my favorites), Metro Exodus, and of the most intensive games, the Microsoft Flight Simulator. Let’s start it from the COD: Warzone, RTX 3080 Founders Edition with up to 21% increase in the FPS got 116 FPS at 1440P while the RTX 2080 Founders Edition got 96 FPS. A difference of 20 FPS is significant because we measured 1440P gaming. After that, Microsoft’s Flight Simulator ran at 22 FPS while, on the other hand, there is again a boost of up to 32% with 29 FPS. Recommended Reading: Nvidia RTX 3080 vs. RTX 2080 Ti – (Benchmarks, Results & Comparison) One of the recent games, Death Stranding, without DLSS quality implementation, got 113 FPS on the 2080s edition and 149 FPS on the new RTX 3080 cards. A clear difference of up to 32% again. If you turn on the promising DLSS for Death Stranding on both founder editions, the RTX 3080 is again winning with a boost of 16 more FPS than the 2080 FE. In numbers, 143 FPS for 2080 and 159 FPS for 3080. An apparent change of 11% between the two. For Control, there is a very massive change up to 78% as the RTX 3080 is giving around 141 FPS while the RTX 2080 is giving 79 FPS only. If you test the same game Control with ray-tracing on, you can see there is a 60 percent change between the two. The RTX 2080 is lacking again with 57 FPS on first-generation ray tracing while the RTX 3080 is again beating with a total of 91 FPS. A difference of 34 FPS. Again, for Control with the DLSS quality and ray-tracing enabled, you can see a vast difference between the two giant cards up to 57%. Control on RTX 2080 is giving 77 FPS while on the other one, 121 FPS. That’s a huge difference, isn’t it? The complete chart is published below with all the 8-10 AAA title games so you can get a clear vision. If you see the chart very carefully, one thing that’s got it rolling throughout the benchmarks is the significant amount of FPS Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 card is offering than 2080 FE. Death Stranding, Control, and Fortnite are one of the most demanding games as we know. To make your gaming experience onto the very next level and intense 1440P gaming, the Nvidia RTX 3080 is your new buddy. The overall games are running very smoothly on it, so if you are upgrading from the RTX 20 series, this card is the next big thing you need. Source

Nvidia RTX 3080 Review For 4K Gaming: Benchmarks Update 1.1

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 card was built to amaze you with the real 4K gaming experience with a decent budget, but they never matched the actual FPS and gaming performances the card promised for when launched. The RTX 3080 just fulfilled those lack of instabilities with the real 4K gaming experience. For example, one of the most GPU intensive games, Control, when we played it on the RTX 2080 with maxed settings and ray-tracing on, you noticed the lag and the shuttering of the screen with a low number of fps various times. Even lower than the 30 FPS, which is such a horrible gaming experience if you have a reasonable budget RTX installed. Now, the same game Control is giving an average of 70+ FPS with max settings and ray-tracing on without any worries on the new Nvidia RTX 3080. I can see a significant difference and real dedicated 4K gaming experience now that we gamers can enjoy in the next 2-4 years for sure or maybe less if they through another card like this. Let’s talk about the benchmarks in-depth for the 4K gaming review. The Microsoft Flight Simulator is getting around 17 FPS on the very 2080, while the RTX 3080 Founders Edition gives a boost of up to 70 percent with 29 FPS in numbers. If you played this game on the 2080 Ti, you might have sometimes noticed the areas with snow or sand produces some blurriness and instability in the overall FPS. With the new RTX 3080, this issue is reduced to 95 percent, which is a clear sign of improvement in the 4K gaming section. In COD: Warzone, a high-paced FPS multiplayer game, you can see a clear difference of 39%. With all the max settings and ray-tracing on, the COD: Warzone gives an imposing amount of 80 FPS on an average. For competitive play, you can get even more impressive gameplay at 1440p or 1080p for shooting games with a higher number of frames per second. As a whole, from competitive gaming to casual gaming, the RTX 3080 graphics card is winning all the chicken nuggets. An in-depth chart with more data for the best demanding games at 4K is posted below for your reference. You can see every game is getting more impressive FPS even at 4K gaming, which you can also double if you implement the DLSS feature. I’m wrapping this benchmark here. Let’s move on to the next benchmark. I will make my final verdict, at last, so do not worry. But, one thing is common till now that the RTX 3080 is the next GPU for the dedicated 4K gaming. Source

Nvidia RTX 3080 Review For 1440P Gaming: Benchmarks Update 2.0

Let’s start the benchmark number two but before that, let me tell you the setup specifications first so you can get a clearer picture of what’s going on where! Intel Core i9-9900K, 32GB of Ram from Corsair DDR4-3200 CL16, MSI MEG Z390 Ace, XPG SX9200 Pro 2TB. Now let’s move forward to the real discussion. The nine games going to be tested in this benchmark are Borderlands 3, The Division 2, Far Cry 5, Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, Forza Horizon 4, Metro Exodus, Red Dead Redemption 2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Strange Brigade. More Reading: Nvidia RTX 3090 vs RTX 3080 vs RTX 3070 – Head To Head Comparison! I will only discuss 2-3 games here, while a detailed chart will be published at the end of this test with all the nine games. On average, for every game tested at the max settings for 1440p, the RTX 3080 is winning against every GPU. In numbers, the FE Edition of the RTX 3080 is getting around 111.4 FPS minimum while the average of 153.8 is still significant. The Titan RTX FE lacks behind 3080 with a minimum of 95.8 and an average of 126.9 FPS. Then, for the RTX 2080 Ti, the minimum is around 92.7, while the average FPS is 124.1, just sitting nearer to the Titan RTX. The least result is we got is from the very GTX 1080 FE with a minimum and average of 54.0/70.4, respectively. Now let’s talk about the games tested at Ultra settings. The first game tested at the maxed-out settings is the Fay Cry 5. The Far Cry 5 is getting min 114 and 143.9 average FPS at ultra-settings. On the RTX 2080 Ti, you can see a slight difference with 135 FPS on average. For Forza Horizon 4, the average FPS on the RTX 3080 FE is around 182. On the Titan RTX, the average is 163.4 FPS. The RTX 2080 Ti is almost the same as the Titan RTX, with a number of 162.5 FPS on average. The high tier card from AMD, the RX 5700 XT, lacks so much with a number of 130.6 FPS on average. For the Red Dead Redemption 2, at ultra-settings, the worst FPS is right from the GTX 1080 FE with an average of 39.6 while the top tier cards like 2080 ti can sparklingly giving 85 fps. The Titan RTX is far behind from RTX 3080, and the Nvidia RTX 3080 is winning with an average of 107.4 FPS. As we know, games like Red Dead Redemption are among the few where you faced the frames per second issue a lot. On the RTX 2080 Ti, the most recent card, hardly you can get around 80-85 FPS, which sometimes becomes unstable in some highly crafted areas of the game. This problem just got the solution with the newly launched Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card. You can now get stable 100+ fps while maintaining the reliability and performance on every end of RDR2 and any game you name it, similar to the Red Dead Redemption 2. Source

Nvidia RTX 3080 Review For 4K Gaming: Benchmarks Update 2.1

Not going to discuss so many games again, but here are some reviews about some high demanding games at 4K ultra-settings. Overall, each game is getting more FPS and beats every RTX 2080 and GTX 1080 cards at a considerable margin. Death Stranding running at 4K with max settings is getting 10+ frames on average and a minimum of 97 than the highly competitive card RTX 2080 Ti. That’s an overall 29% flat margin. The game looked so smooth in gameplay, and the overall game experience is onto the next level. Then, there is the RTX Super in the list with 69 average improvements while sitting right in front of RTX 2080, with an average of 66 frames improvement. One of the recent cards, GeForce RTX 2060, got very worst results as only 42 frames were on an average while the minimum touchable frames were 35. All AMD cards are not even closer to what this 3080 is producing for real 4K gaming. I’m not an Nvidia fan, neither I write pro AMD reviews but, the truth is that the AMD RX cards are very behind. I’ve many expectations from the AMD event they are organizing next month. At least this time, they should give some high-quality competitor graphics cards so we can get some hard time in getting the benchmarks for the new Nvidia cards in the future. Right now, it’s just Nvidia beating Nvidia situation with no real GPUs from AMD. The second game is Microsoft Flight Simulator again. Thanks to the high-quality textures and environmental events they built into the game. You can see a 9% increase over the 2080 Ti is also turning the cards for the GeForce RTX 3080 again. Comparing to 2080, a rough 30% clean piece of paper is again writing the stories for the new Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics card. The worst one is right from the 20 series, the RTX 2060, while the 2080 Super, 2070 Super, is sitting on almost the same page. AMD is still nowhere nearer to the RTX 20 and RTX 30 series cards. The third game from the vault is Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which previously was tested for the RTX 3080 at 1440p with an average 28% better gameplay than the 2080 Ti, and faster as compared to 2080 graphics cards. On the RTX 3080 at 4K, the Shadow of the Tomb Raider is giving stunning impressive FPS on an average 87 FPS while the minimum of 71 FPS. This game is one of the few games that get an average of 67 frames while using the older generation RTX 2080 Ti cards. One of the unpopular ones, the GTX 1080 Ti, is the number 4th result with 56 average FPS. The only GTX card from the Nvidia’s cave competing for something against the trendy new beast Nvidia RTX 3080. Last but not least, I’m going to show you the comparisons for the Doom Eternal. As you know, Nvidia gave a glimpse in their 1st September event, where they told that the new RTX 3080 is double the performance than the recently launched RTX 2080 ti. The RTX 3080 is again beating the 2080 Ti with a 35 percent flat margin, which is genuinely matching the statement given by Nvidia. The settings were set to Ultra Nightmare Quality with ultra-textures. In the numbers, the 3080 is getting around an average of 189 frames while maintaining a minimum of 155 FPS. Meanwhile, the RTX 2080 Ti, with almost half the FPS difference, was getting 140 on an average and 122 minimums, thus ended on the position second. The third position, GeForce RTX 2080 Super, is almost 80% slower in the tests. The quality speaks itself; the number of reviews I checked so far are complimentary and are complying with the statement this 3080 card is built-on. The most impressive result I’ve seen since the morning is the one for the Doom Eternal (4K) tests. An exceptionally significant change in the FPS and performance is just beyond this world. For more detailed comparison charts and data, I’ll post a table below with all the games and specific settings we discussed above. Feel free to give your benchmark results, too, if you are interested and lucky enough to get your first hands-on the reviewer’s founder edition cards. Source

Nvidia RTX 3080 Review For 4K/1080P Gaming: Benchmarks Update 3.0

The specifications for the setup used in this benchmark is AMD Ryzen 9 3950X. Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master Mobo, 16 GB (2x8GB) G.Skill Royal DDR4 3600 CL 16 Ram, Corsair RM850X 850W PSU. It’s time to see if the RTX 3080 can live up to those claims that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang made about it being up to two times fast as the RTX 2080 with double performance and reliability. This test will be incredible as now we will use the “3DMark Time SPY Extreme” for DirectX12. As you can see, the 3080 is dominating the RTX 2080 Ti, with a 29% faster graphics score, while 2080 is about 41% slower than the 3080 GPUs. Not accurate if we compare it with the statement of Jensen but yeah still a considerable amount of improvement. Meanwhile, the GTX 1080 Ti half of the graphics score than the 3080s one. Now let’s have some games related benchmarks for “1920×1080, DX11, Ultra Preset.” For the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, the RTX 3080 is getting around 46.6 on average while the 2080 Ti is getting approximately 43.3, which is an 8 percent improvement. For 4K, “3840×2160, DX11, Ultra Preset.” The Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is knocking the glass with an average 34.4 frames for the RTX 3080; meanwhile, the RTX 2080 Ti is getting 29 fps on an average. That makes the RTX 3080 18.5 percent faster than the RTX 2080 ti. Microsoft Flight Simulator is one of the newly added games for the raw benchmarks because of the factors it is built on. The real open-world game where you can fly everywhere where you want. Now, let’s move on to the next game by Hideo Kojima, “Death Stranding.” For “1920×1080, DX12, Very High Preset.” The Death Stranding achieved 175.8 avg fps, while the RTX 2080 ti with 164.4 FPS dominated the second position. It’s 7% faster than the 2080 Ti and 25% faster than the RTX 2080 card. The RX 5700 XT is lagging behind by a significant margin. Not even close to RTX 2080 and sitting just above to the GTX 1080 Ti card. Then, again for 4K, “3840×2160, DX12, Very High Preset.” Death Stranding is also up against the 2080 ti and 2080 cards with 25% faster. In numbers, the RTX 3080 is getting 95.7 frames than RTX 2080 Ti with 76.7 avg fps. GTX 1070 at the bottom with 35.2 avg fps and GTX 1080 Ti with impressive numbers is above the RTX 5700 XT. Here the Nvidia RTX 3080 GPU merely is winning by a right margin amongst all. Death Stranding is an open-world game that lacks a lot on the RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080 in almost all departments. The average fps was also lower than what we can now achieve with the new 3080. For Shadow of the Tomb Raider “1920×1080, DX12, Very High Preset.”, the RX 5700 XT is winning against the RTX 3080, with average 139.4 fps. The second one is the RTX 2080 Ti, with average 128.2 fps while the RTX 3080 is almost got beaten by everyone in this benchmark is only winning against the GTX 1070. The reason why it is winning against the RTX 3080 is because of the CPU barriers like anything that limits the performance of a very high tier card because of its CPU limitations. Other than that, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 is an actual proper dedicated card for the 1440p and 4K gaming. So, feel free to drop your mic in this test. At 4K, the “Shadow of the Tomb Raider” is 23% faster than the 2080 Ti, while the number of avg fps for both cards is 100 and 81.1 accordingly. Meanwhile, the RX 5700 XT is on the fifth spot this time for the 4K test by a vast flat margin. So, again the winner is RTX 3080. Source

Nvidia RTX 3080 Review for Ray Tracing & DLSS 1440p: Benchmarks Update 4.0

We all want to know how this card will deal with the Ray-tracing & DLSS on at 1440 and 4k gaming, but first, let’s talk on the 1440p portion. With the DLSS “Deep Learning Super Sampling,” you can enhance the overall quality of the image in no time. Not only this, you can also boost the overall game fps as well. Thanks to the 2nd generation ray-tracing in the Ampere 3000 series and third generation of tensor cores introduced in the NVIDIA Ampere architecture. Related Reading: Best Nvidia RTX 3090 Graphics Cards – (Updated Guide) With the implementation of both 2nd gen ray tracing and 3rd gen tensor cores, we will give you an idea about where, how, and what margin this series offers to their consumers. The overall benchmarks I discussed above are not with these implementations, as I mentioned, so feel free to see more drama in this test result for various high demanding AAA games. The first game from the round-up is “Control” powered by Remedy’s Northlight Storytelling engine. The game supports multiple levels of graphics customization with enhanced ray-traced effects. The criteria for this benchmark was set to ‘High, RT Reflections, RT Shadows, DLSS Quality.’ The average fps of 108 in numbers for the RTX 3080 than the RTX Titan with 87 fps and the RTX 2080 Ti at 82 fps is clearly a sign of improvement. You can see a clear difference of 21 FPS between the RTX 3080 and RTX Titan when you turned on the RT and DLSS together. The number 2nd on our list is the one and only “Minecraft.” developed by Mojang Studios. The Minecraft was recently got updated with the ray-tracing effects and updated to DXR1.1. The overall game is looking so beautiful now. I never thought the ray-tracing would be live in the Minecraft game, but technology is innovation, so everything is possible. It is truly a heaven for Minecraft players that they can play it in the ray-tracing effects now, but what if you use the RTX 3080 card with “Ray tracing on, DLSS Enabled, 24 Chunks.” The Nvidia RTX 3080 is winning against RTX Titan, 2080 ti, and 2080 with a decent amount of FPS and improvements. The average frames for the Minecraft at these settings for 1440p gaming with RTX 3080 were 101 fps while the Titan got 97 fps, 2080, and 2080 ti with 71 and 89 fps, respectively. Now, it’s time for the Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It’s an action-adventure game developed by Eidos-Montreal and published by Square Enix. From the series, it’s one of the most compelling and high-end game with various high-quality textures. Kudos to the developers of this game the way they added different high-quality factors in the game so we can now test it in the benchmarks for 3080. The settings are “Highest, RT Shadows Ultra, DLSS Enabled.” On average, the RTX 2080 is at the bottom with only 58 average frames, while the RTX 3080 and Titan are at the 1st and 2nd spot with 94 fps and 77 average fps. The recent card RTX 2080Ti gives four frames less than the Titan RTX with a number of 73 frames. As a whole, the RTX 3080 is winning with an average of 85% faster amongst all GPUs. I think it’s enough for this benchmark, now let’s check out the next for the 4K gaming. So far, the RTX 3080 is giving tremendously high-quality results throughout all tests. The detailed chart for this benchmark for all the games will be published below: Source

Nvidia RTX 3080 Review for Ray Tracing & DLSS 4K: Benchmarks Update 4.1

I will write a short note for each game for the benchmarks in this section and only discuss the performance tests while a detailed table will be published. Shadow of the Tomb Raider gives 62 fps on an average for the RTX 3080, while the RTX Titan is on the second spot with 51 fps. The settings for this game are “Highest, RT Shadows Ultra, DLSS Enabled.” Modern Warfare is giving 75 frames while the RTX Titan and RTX 2080Ti are competing against each other. In numbers, Titan is getting 59 frames while the 2080Ti gained 54 frames. The settings are “4K High, RT Shadows Enabled.” The number three is Control again with an average of 66 fps for the RTX 3080, Titan with 48 frames, 2080 Ti with 47, and the last one 2080 with a number of 36 fps. The settings for this game are “High, RT Reflections, RT Shadows, DLSS Quality.” Number four is the Battlefield V with an average of 67 fps for the RTX 3080, the RTX Titan with an average fps of 57 while for RTX 2080Ti with three frames less 54 fps. The settings are 4k “Ultra, RT Reflections, DLSS Enabled.” The last one in our round-up list is the Minecraft. How someone can leave this game without even discussing its benchmarks for the 4K gaming. The settings are 4K “24 Chunks, DLSS Enabled, RTX On.” Let’s start from the bottom. The Nvidia RTX 2080 is giving around 46 frames per second. Meanwhile, the RTX 2080Ti and RTX Titan are with 59 and 63 fps, respectively. The winner of the Minecraft test is the RTX 3080, with a total of 79 frames. Please ignore any inaccuracies if I did somewhere throughout the benchmarks section. The numbers game is exciting at the moment because you can easily pick a clear winner among all without even thinking about the alternatives. I will post more updates for this section, but right now, I guess you will get a clear idea about everything. As I told you above, the data I gathered and mixed it with my own are from the authentic sources. I will ping everyone at the bottom of each benchmark. Source

GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition: Hardware, Cooling, And Design

Nvidia changed the whole design of its Founders Edition cards for the RTX 30 series. Significant changes have been made in the cooling system of the RTX 3080 FE. They radically altered the design of their cooling design that includes two axial fans now. Also, the PCB is redesigned as well, while Nvidia shortened it further so that the back of the card consists of just a fan, heat pipes, and the GPU shroud. The all-new design will help the card to produce more air pressure with substantial cooling improvements. It will also help the card to create low noise levels as it was in the RTX 2080 ti. Both cards are really good at suppressing the noise levels of their particular fans. The dual-fan setup has shifted with a different design, and one fan is at the backside while the other one is at the front. The primary purpose is to through cold air into the card from one end and then exhausting the hot air on the opposite side to maintain the optimal temperature of the GPU. Some people have noticed that the new design may reduce the GPU efficiency because of the low airflow pressure but mostly what I’ve seen so far from the tests, the GPU is performing really well under the current circumstances. The overall look of the card is awe-inspiring, and it’s even better than the RTX 2080. One thing you may notice when you grab the card first in your hands if you used the older generation cards that the weight is heavier. It seems like the value is around nearly 100 to 120g, which is heavier than the RTX 2080. If you are into the RGB thing, then let me share you some cool stuff as the new design has a one white GeForce RTX logo light on the top of the card, which was a green light before. It is one of the bulkiest cards ever made by Nvidia up to date, with a two-slot design width about 2cm longer. The screw portions are hidden behind the small covers so it can look better while the overall internal structure of the GPU is very densely populated. The memory chips of 10 GDDR6X are everywhere around the GPU at the center. The new cuts on the board look like a b2 stealth is just beyond excellent. So, that’s how the new shroud and internal design with a minor RGB lighting make this card really flat and incredible in aesthetics. While implementing a 12-pin single power connector is still a handy adjustment, Nvidia has made in the 3080, which was limited to 6/8-pin connectors previously. The only downside of this adjustment is you need to connect two eight-pin PCI Express power connectors, which looks awful if you are really serious in the cable management thing. As per the sources, I came to know that the Corsair are planning single cables that will be really handy and can be used just by plugging directly into the all-new Nvidia’s 12-pin connector very quickly. So, it will be useful to manage the overall cables without hurdles easily. If you are buying a different vendor RTX 3080 card, you are outstanding with the current setup because third party cards do not have the 12 pin power connectors. However, an old school dual 8-pin connectors are present in those graphics’ cards. The most important thing you should notice is the new 750w power supply for the RTX 3080 because it can use up to 320 watts by default. So, you must upgrade your PSU first before installing the Nvidia RTX 3080. I will write a guide on the best PSU for the RTX 3080 in a few days, so please revisit this page for the internal link to that page. Is the new 10GB GDDR6X video ram is good enough? Well, since the event of Nvidia, there were many discussions about this question where people asked this question, again and again, time after time. So, let me enlighten you further about the question that many people have still in their minds. In the RTX 2080 card series, the built-in video ram is around 11 GB, while in the RTX 3080, they cut it down to 10GB. So, the real thing is that the video memory was never a thing where you get some limitations because people look at the stats of the GPU-Z and some other tools to see the real ram used by the game. They see the memory allocation measurement, which is not a whole thing to notice, and just give their final verdict based on the limitations that the overall video RAM is not good enough to run their games. So, if you are playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the tool you are using tells you that the game is using the 11 GB V-Ram out of 11 GB, they then think that the new GeForce RTX 3080 is not good enough with the 10 GB, right? Well, that is not the case here because we are only noticing the Memory allocation in measuring the overall V-Ram, not the actual memory the game is using. However, the game just snatches every remaining video memory to be assigned with it, whether the game requires it or not as a reserve. So, if you are still using those numbers to conclude the overall video ram requirements you need, please stop it right here! Lastly, the 2.1 HDMI port with the three DisplayPort 1.4a ports is so useful if you are going for 4K gaming because it will enhance and give you the ultimate gaming experience you have never seen before. So now, finally, 4K pc gaming makes sense. Thanks to Nvidia for their premium software-based and hardware-based solutions. Furthermore, we are missing the USB-C virtual link from the 20 series as well. I’m going to finish this part of the story here. I think you all now know every inch of RTX 3080. For me, the hardware, cooling, and the overall card shroud is really a revolutionary step Nvidia has taken. Simultaneously, the internal board and GPU structure are properly settled for better stability results and performance.

GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition: Final Verdict

If you compare the new RTX 3080 with the old generation 2080 Ti, you will notice one thing; they have done a lot here with the overall GPU cooling system and the design. The new design shines a lot in providing you the better GPU temperatures. Then, the overall performance for the 4K is just superb and incredible game to game. The benchmarks are posted above. The new fan structure where one fan is at the back and the other one is at the front is really making the airflow system to go through them smoothly. The memory bandwidth of 19 GB really helps in running the overall benchmark tests. The over-clocking is not making a significant difference as compared to the RTX 2080 Ti or GTX 1080 Ti, but it helps to give some boosts in every game. If you are buying the 3080 from other vendors, then this over-clocking performance may increase than the Founder’s Edition because of the extra tier of features. If you see the performance baseline again for the 4K gaming, you can see 20% to 32% improvements over the 2080Ti. On the GTX 1080Ti, there are colossal difference improvements of over 80 to 90 percent on average. If you tear down the resolution to 1440p or 1080p, you will see a reduction in the overall performance versus the other GPUs. Still, the 3080 is winning against all as it is providing a healthy 70% average markup across AMD/Nvidia GPUs. One more thing that will see making considerable improvements is the DLSS quality implementation. Whenever you apply DLSS quality to a game, you can see a vast FPS boost. Thanks to the newly launched advanced DLSS technology to make our lives easier. Nvidia is shining with the bold statement they made on the launched event, which was not accurate on the previously established RTX-20 series because the RTX 2080 didn’t hold up as much as the RTX 3080 series. Even though, two years ago, to play your favorite AAA games, you at least need over 1000 dollars of investment for a single GPU. With the comprehensive results now, you can say the 4k reality is no more a dream. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 just changed everything for the PC gaming community by providing a cheaper card this time. Then the new RT cores and tensors cores are really adding an extra benefit to the overall identity of this graphics card onto the very next level. With games like Minecraft (With Ray Tracing), Control, Fortnite, and Death Stranding, you simply need a solid GPU to provide you the reality of 4K. The conclusion is that the new Nvidia RTX 3080 is the next trend for a couple of years even though the RTX 3090 is in the path, but that’s a different story because we are only discussing the 4K gaming performances here. So, those are the most exciting points out of all this, as still more benchmarking tests are going out. They can do more work in the thermal section of this new series because it is still behind. I will add more updates about the thermal power with detail in a separate detailed guide. The final question you all were asking in the forums whether you should buy this graphics card or not? Well, it’s always the same and depends on your mindset. If you are feeling that your current GPU setup is running out of time, then surely you should make an upgrade. But if you are satisfied with the current setup you have by comparing the benchmarks above, then you should surely not buy this. Also, keep one thing in mind that games like Cyberpunk 2077, Watch Dogs: Legion, and The Valhalla, your GPU should be well enough to enjoy these games at full real 4k resolution. Meanwhile, the new Ray-Tracing feature in the new generation PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles are also signs for you to buy a new RTX 3080 for sure. Last but not least, do not judge the book by its cover, and the thing that shines a lot is not perfect in terms of performances sometimes. I’m signing off by wrapping this guide here!
