Best Motherboard For Ryzen 9 5950X

The Ryzen 9 5950X is certainly no slouch, this should not be coming as a surprise to anyone as it is one of the most powerful processors in the fold when you look at the market. Even though the numbers are not out, the early speculations and data shared by AMD prove that this is not something that should be taken lightly.

#1 – MSI Meg X570 Unify Motherboard

The first motherboard on our list is coming straight from the long list of impressive options that MSI has graced us with. If you have been keeping a check on what MSI has been up to, then it is safe to say that you know that the components made by them are great through and through.

Full support for Ryzen 9 5950X. DDR4 OC up to 4,600 MHz. Aluminum cover with an extended heatsink. PCI-E 4.0 with triple M.2 connectors. Wi-Fi 6 and 2.5G LAN. Socket AM4. Triple Lightning M.2. 3 x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots. Audio Boost HD.

The lack of RGB looks excellent. The overall performance of this motherboard remains outstanding. You are getting stealthy looks overall. The motherboard has an insane price to performance ratio. Plenty of fan headers. The front 90-degree USB 3.0s header is a blessing.

Lack of RGB can be a polarizing part for some.

The MSI Meg X570 Unify Motherboard is just that; a motherboard that uses a tried and true formula but still manages to deliver excellent performance across the board for a great price, as well. What are you getting out of this gorgeous motherboard? Well, let’s look. For starters, there is no RGB on the motherboard, a bold decision by MSI because normally, people run for such a feature. However, look aside from that, and you are getting a motherboard that has one of the most satisfying performances that I have seen till date, which makes it such a good potion. Another great thing is that it looks incredible with the stealthy looks. You are also getting a motherboard that is more affordable than some of the other options that are available for purchase. If you are the type of person who wants to connect a lot of fans, this is another great thing about this as you are getting plenty of headers, and the 90-degree front-panel USB header is a treat to use. While I don’t mind the lack of RGB at all, the same cannot be said about others, as this is a very polarizing exclusion for most of us.

#2 – Asus ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Formula

To say that Asus has not looked after the enthusiasts would be criminal, as that is not the case at all. Asus as a company has always made sure that they deliver on all fronts, and they have delivered. However, looking after enthusiasts is not the only thing Asus is good at as they are known for releasing a lot of other options too. For anyone who is looking for a motherboard that delivers excellent performance across the board and looks stealthy while doing so, getting the MSI Meg X570 Unify Motherboard makes more sense than anything else. You are not ending up with something that simply is not good enough as it delivers excellent performance through and through.

Full support for Ryzen 9 5950X. Proper thermal design with ample cooling solution. High-performance wireless networking and storage options. 5-way optimization for proper tuning. Socket AM4. Wi-Fi 6 (802. 11Ax.) ATX Motherboard with PCIe 4.0. Aura Sync RGB Lighting. Memory: 4 slots with a maximum of 128 GB.

Looks stunning. Loaded with enthusiast features. Excellent BIOS. Super-fast performance across the board. Great RGB implementation.

The VRM water block might be underutilized by many users.

But for now, we are focusing on the Asus ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Formula because obviously, a Ryzen 9 5900X is going to require a motherboard that is good enough, or else you would be left without any real performance gains, in the first place. Thankfully, the motherboard is everything Asus promises, and more. Starting with a stellar performance across the board, and great looks, as well. I know a few people who might turn their heads looking at this motherboard but this right here, in my opinion, is the finest looking option available. However, the performance is another great thing, and right out of the box, I can tell you that the motherboard is made for people who want to overclock, and you can see that by just looking at the water-block on the VRM. So, it would be wasting your money if you don’t go custom loop on this motherboard. The fast wireless and storage performance are also the cherries on top that you are getting. Therefore, if it is the performance you want to get, you certainly can get your hands on it, and you will not have any regrets. As for the downsides, I cannot think of anything wrong with this motherboard, aside from the fact if you are not using custom water-cooling on this motherboard, you are wasting your money.

#3 – Asus Prime X570-Pro

Asus has always been very straightforward with their motherboard choices. Over the past couple of years, their Prime series of motherboards have always been great for anyone who wanted to buy a motherboard that delivered great performance and looks at the same time. I am going to be straightforward here if you want to get your hands on a motherboard that is essentially something that has zero compromises, the Asus ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Formula is the one that you go for. I have been using this for some time now, and I can tell you that nothing comes close in terms of performance.

Enhanced power solution. 5-way optimization for complete control. Industry looing cooling solution. Asus Optic MEM. Socket AM4. Dual M. 2 support, USB 3. 2 Gen 2 ports, and front-panel header. PCIe 4.0, 2.5Gb LAN, BIOS Flashback. Memory Slots: 4 Memory Max: 128 GB

One of the best looking designs on any motherboard. The performance right out of the box remains excellent. The memory overclocking cannot be matched. The 600 A VRM is great for stable operations.

Some overclocking limitations. The motherboard lacks the more advanced features.

Today, we have the Asus Prime X570-Pro, and it is nice to see that Asus has still done a great job in the performance department as the motherboard is something that performs great, and looks the same while doing so. The best part here is that the motherboard brings a pretty attractive and neutral design language for anyone who is looking for a good motherboard. If looks are of concern to you, you will be getting those on this motherboard. The overall performance of this motherboard is also excellent, with the Prime delivering a fantastic out of the box performance, and not just that, it offers one of the best memory overclocking support that we have seen on any available motherboard. Moving further, the Prime X570-A motherboard also comes with a 600 A VRM, which is one of the finest when you are talking about overclocking as it delivers a fantastic overclocking performance through and through. Sadly, there are a few downsides. For starters, if you want the premium features like the Strix or the ROG series, you might not get those here, and there are some CPU overclocking limitations, too.

#4 – MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE

MSI Is back again with another great offering, but this time we are looking at something that is truly built for someone who has no issues with their budget and can buy the best possible offering that is available in the market. Overall, if you want to get your hands on a motherboard that looks excellent but at the same time, does not cost a lot of money, the Asus Prime X570-Pro is a fantastic choice for your money. Regardless of anything else, the motherboard’s performance is consistent across the board. Not just that, you are also getting something that looks outstanding with the neutral aesthetics, has solid VRMs, class-leading I/O, and connectivity options, and is not going to cost a lot of money, to begin with. You truly will feel at home with this motherboard, and that is something we can guarantee.

Full support for Ryzen 9 5950X. Ultra-fast networking with Wi-Fi 6 and 10G LAN card. Triple M.2 slots with a bundled M.2 expander card with 2 additional slots. MSI Mystic Light Infinity II. Xtreme Audio DAC with dual audio processors. Frozr Heatsink Design 4 x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots 4 x DIMM; Max. 128GB; 4600MHz

The LED panel offers some cool customizations. The infinity mirror looks cool when RGB lighting is turned on. Overclocking support is fantastic. You are getting the highest-end networking support. The add-in storage and NIC cards just sweeten the overall deal.

Targets a very specific market of enthusiasts.

We are indeed talking about the MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE as it is the highest-end offering from MSI, and yes, it does look fantastic, and while it warrants a hefty price tag, if you know what you are getting yourself into, you would want to get your hands on this motherboard, too. To start with the good things, MSI’s included LED panel with this motherboard is a lot of fun to use as it allows you to customize everything to your heart’s content. Not just that, the infinity mirror look on the heatsink cover is great, especially with the lights turned on. Thankfully, the overclocking has been made a lot easier too, and if you want to overclock your Ryzen 9 5950X, which you definitely should, this motherboard is going to help you achieve that in no time. The networking on this motherboard is one of the highest of ends we have encountered so far, and you are also getting additional storage and NIC card if you want to spice things up. After testing this motherboard for some time, I can tell you right away that this is an expensive option, but all that money goes into making something that is only built for people who want to overclock their CPUs and get the best performance possible.

#5 – Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming

With Asus, the best part is that you are not always expected to pay the top dollar whenever you are buying a new motherboard or any other component, for that matter. You can just get your hands on a good, affordable option. The Strix series is where the balance is for all the Asus users. Overall, I would say that the MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE is the motherboard to get if the money is not an issue. There are very few motherboards that can rival what this motherboard is capable of doing, and that is a testament to MSI’s dedication.

Full support for Ryzen 9 5950X. Asus Aura Sync RGB. Extended cooling for PCH and other components. Support for PCI-E 4.0 and dual M.2 connectors. 2.5G LAN and Wi-Fi 6. MOS heatsink with 8mm Heatpipe. Socket AM4. RAM Memory Maximum: 4 slots/128GB. Dual onboard M. 2 heatsinks and a water pump Header.

Great value for money. Excellent overclocking support. You are getting a heap of USB ports. Support for fast networking like 2.5G LAN and Wi-Fi 6.

There are only two M.2 connectors on the motherboard.

The Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming that we are looking at today is certainly the motherboard that one should go for if they are looking for a more affordable offering. For starters, you are getting a lot of USB 3.2 ports than some of the other options available, and the overclocking support of this motherboard is also reliable and solid across the board. You are also getting super-fast wireless networking and wired networking in the form of Wi-Fi 6 and 2.5G LAN, respectively. Another great thing here is that the overall price to performance ratio is excellent as this motherboard is more affordable than the competition, giving you an edge here. Sadly, if you are looking for a lot of M.2 connectors, then that is one thing that is missing here since you are only getting 2 connectors, but that should not be a deal-breaker for anyone.

#6 – MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge

Another great motherboard on our list from the MSI portfolio, and you will start noticing a pattern here, MSI is known for creating motherboards that fit different budget brackets, and that is a great move as it allows them to capture a larger market share than average. With the Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming, it is safe to say that the motherboard is made for people who are looking to spend good money but without getting any features that are not useful. I was a bit skeptical at first, having used more expensive motherboards, I figured the experience might not be the same. However, I am happy to report that this motherboard is everything that Asus had promised and more. Which means that if it is the performance you are after, the motherboard delivers on that front, but if for some reason, you are looking for some gorgeous looks or fast wireless and wired internet, then this motherboard delivers on that front, too.

Full support for Ryzen 9 5950X. Wi-Fi 5 with MU-MIMO support. Audio Boost 4 technology. Frozr Heatsink for active PCH cooling. Pre-installed IO shielding. Onboard Intel Wi-Fi / Bluetooth solution delivering speeds up to 433Mbps. Mystic Light RGB. 2 x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots. 2 x M.2 connectors

One of the best priced X570 motherboards in the market. Great overclocking features The VRM and MOSFETs used are of great quality. The memory preset profiles are great for overclocking.

PCI-E 2nd and 4th slot are sharing bandwidth with the Wi-Fi.

The motherboard in question is the ever so revered MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE as it strikes the perfect balanced between something that is the high end when it comes to performance but at the same time, does not cost a lot of money, so you are definitely in a position where you can get the right option for your money. Now the good news here is that the motherboard is excellent when you are talking about the performance from the price perspective. Very few motherboards in the market manage to achieve that, and this one is certainly one of those. MSI has also done a great job as far as the overclocking features are concerned, meaning that you are getting excellent OC features that will not create any discrepancies for you, either. MSI has also done a great job as far as VRM and MOSFETS are concerned since they are not the cheap ones that you normally get. Last but not the least, the memory profile presets are also pretty great, and the performance remains consistent across the board. My only issue here is that the PCI slot number 2 and 4 are sharing their bandwidth with the Wi-Fi, and while it might not be an issue for a lot of people, it is worth mentioning nonetheless.

#7 – ASRock AM4/X570M (Micro-ATX)

There was a time when you could confuse ASRock with some other company that there won’t be a problem simply because ASRock did not make such a huge mark back then. However, things have changed now as many companies have started delivering fantastic options in the market. In case you happen to be in the market searching for something that delivers decent performance across the board and, at the same time, does not cost a lot of money, for starters. Then getting the MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE makes a lot of sense. At first, I did feel that I am getting an offer that is simply not good enough, but after spending some time with the motherboard and using it, I came to realize that this is one of the best options available in the price bracket.

AMD Quad Crossfire. and Crossfire; Graphics Output Options: HDMI, DisplayPort. Full support for 5th generation Ryzen CPUs. 10-phase power design for easy power delivery. Dual PCI-E 4.0 M.2 slots. 2 USB 3.2 Gen2 ports on the back. Intel Gigabit LAN. 7.1 CH HD Audio. M.2 Heatsink to dissipate heat.

Delivers excellent performance out of the box. You get eight SATA ports. Two M.2 ports. One of the decently priced X570 options. The idle and load power draw is pretty good.

The I/O shield is not integrated.

The ASRock AM4/X570M is just one of the many that ASRock is famous for, and I certainly get why because if you are looking for something that manages to deliver good overall performance and, at the same time, does not cost a lot of money, this is the one that you need to get. Right out of the box, the X570M delivers pretty balanced performance, something that surprised me right away as I was expecting some issues to come in the way. That is not the case here. Another great thing is that if you are looking to build a PC with loads of spinning storage, then you are getting access to eight SATA ports, and to complement that, you have access to dual M.2 drives, as well. Another great part about this motherboard is that from a flock of expensive X570 motherboards, this one stands out to be one of the more affordable offerings, and the power draw under idle and load is excellent, so you do have something stable on your hand. My only complaint here that I can think of, at least, is that there is no integrated I/O shield on the rear, and that makes the building process just have another step, a step that most of us hate.

#8 – GIGABYTE X570 I AORUS Pro Wi-Fi (Mini-ITX)

I am going to be honest here, Gigabyte’s Aorus series of motherboards have become my favorite for some time now thanks to how good of an option they have become. At first, I thought that all of the motherboards are going to be super expensive, but that is not the case here. If you are searching for something great in every single aspect, then going for the ASRock AM4/X570M is the right thing to do. It is small, works like a beast, and does not look out of place, either. It is, by far, one of the most impressive motherboards that we have tested, and we are all for it. Everything ranging from how stable it runs to how good it looks is all there, and you are getting something that is not going to be a letdown in any case.

Fully support for Ryzen 9 5950X. Dual-channel ECC/Non-ECC memory support. Direct 8-phase power delivery system. Extended VRM heatsink. Dual ultra-fast NVMe PCIe 4.0/3.0 x4 M.2. Smart Fan 5. Intel WiFi 6 802.11ax & BT 5. Advanced Thermal Design. RGB Fusion 2.0. 1x PCIe 4.0/3.0 x16.

Lots of features for a low price. USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C port on the rear. Two M.2 slots. Q-Flash Plus is excellent for BIOS updating.

You are only getting two fan headers.

These motherboards are actually on the affordable side of things too, you can look at the GIGABYTE X570 I AORUS Pro Wi-Fi, and you will see what I am talking about. This is not only one of the more affordable Aorus series motherboard, but it also brings a mini-ITX form factor. Something we all can stand behind. Right out of the box, you realize that this motherboard delivers a ton of features for a very affordable price. This is not something that you see every single day as it happens to be a rarity, which is what I welcome here. This motherboard also delivers a USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C port on the back, and you are also getting two M.2 slots on such a small motherboard. The Q-Flash Plus is a great utility that allows the easiest, and one of the most adequate BIOS flashing utility, that will make your life a lot easier and simpler, too. After using the motherboard for some time, I tried hard to look for faults in this motherboard, but the only thing that I realized was wrong about this was the fact that it only has two fan headers. But other than that, holding anything against this otherwise great motherboard would be wrong.

Honorable Mention #1 – Asus AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus

The last motherboard on the list is again from Asus, but this time, we are looking at a more affordable offering rather than spending all our money on a motherboard. However, just because this is a cheap motherboard does not mean that the performance is not on par. It still delivers amazing performance. For anyone who plans on building a good mini-ITX system and is looking for a motherboard that is capable in that field, this list is certainly for you as you are going to get a good list of features that will solve most of your issues with ease. Everything about this motherboard is great since the performance delivered is on par with some of the best offerings, and that is what makes this such a compelling option.

Full support for Ryzen 9 5950X. Military-grade TUF components. ProCool Socket and Digi+ VRM for enhanced durability. Realtek L82000A Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 5.0, and TUF LANGuard Technology. Processor Socket: AM4. DUAL PCIE 4.0 M.2. USB 3.2 Gen 2 And Aura Sync RGB lighting. RAM Maximum Size: 4/128 GB

One of the more affordable options available. Comes with debug LEDs. USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C port. Wi-Fi and other wireless connective options are included.

There is a lack of more advanced features.

The Asus AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus is certainly the motherboard of choice for a lot of people simply because of how affordable it is. But thankfully, being affordable here also means that you are still getting a good performance out of it, which is what I love about this motherboard the most. For starters, the low price of this motherboard makes it a compelling choice for anyone who wants to get their foot in when it comes to the X570 chipset as it is one of the most affordable offerings in the market. Additionally, you are still getting a solid set of features, including fast Wi-Fi, debug LEDs, and USB 3.1 Gen2 on the back. Sadly, when it comes to the more advanced features, connectivity or otherwise; that is where the Asus AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus falls a bit flat, but thankfully, that does not have any negative impact on the overall performance since that remains respectable in every regard. Recommended Reading: If you are in the market for an X570 motherboard and you are also on a budget at the same time. The great thing here is that you do not have to spend all your savings on an X570 motherboard because this right here is a great option. As far as the performance is concerned, we did not run into any issues. Therefore, you can be satisfied knowing that you will be getting a good performance out of it. I would, however, point that the motherboard does lack advanced features, but that does not come in the way of how it performs, which is the better part of the deal here.

Best motherboard for AMD Ryzen 5 5600x Best motherboard for Ryzen 9 5900x and RTX 3080 ti Best Motherboards For Ryzen 7 5800X – (Analyzed & Reviewed)

Best Motherboard For Ryzen 9 5950x – Quick Buying Tips

We are finally done looking at all the great motherboards that you can go right ahead and buy, but that is not all. We understand that more often than not, there needs to be a buying guide up in place, and that is what we are going to look at now.

Compatibility (Chipset, Sockets)

The great thing about the AMD Ryzen platform is its forward and backward compatibility. If you are buying the Ryzen 9 5950X or any other 5000 series processor, there is a guarantee that all of them are going to work with the pre-existing B550 and X570 motherboards. However, since we are talking about the highest-end 5950X, our suggestion is to stick to the X570 offerings, since the cheaper motherboards can run into severe VRM overheating issues, and that is not what you would want to experience. Simply because it can get you in trouble and can cause critical failure, too.

PCIe slots, RAM Slots & Expansion Slots

You will also need to understand that when you are buying a good motherboard, it is important that the option that you are looking at has all the right slots. After all, what is the point in getting something that lacks all the important slots. Thankfully, all the motherboards that we have listed here have ample slots; whether you are talking PCI-E, M.2 or RAM, these motherboards have you covered in every single way, ensuring that you won’t be running into any problems that might become a thing otherwise. However, we would still encourage you to check for the slots that are most important to you, since that is a crucial factor that we wouldn’t want to miss out.

Ease of Installation

Looking at this right now just sounds funny because things have become so much easier. I remember the time when I was building my first computer, and the motherboard installation alone took me 2 hours simply because I forgot to install the stand-offs on which the motherboard was supposed to stand on. However, thankfully, modern motherboards are super easy and straightforward to install, and some even come with pre-installed I/O shields, which will make your whole installation process a lot easier and simpler to deal with.

Built-in Strong Wifi

One more thing that you are going to need will be strong Wi-Fi, because, over the past couple of years, Wi-Fi standards have become so much better than you will not be running into latency issues or anything of that nature. Thankfully, almost all the motherboards in this list have full support for Wi-Fi 6, and not just that, they even support 2.5G LAN. Which means that as far as networking is concerned, you are not going to run into any problems.

The Size

I understand that his might is not something everyone is going to think about because most people are well-versed in this terminology, but motherboards come in different sizes. Everything ranging from ATX to mini-ITX. When buying one, be sure that you are getting the right size, and more importantly, make sure that the size corresponds with the size of your case. That way, the motherboard is not going to look out of place when you are installing it in the case. It is just something that we believe is very important.

Enough Overclocking Potential

When we come to overclocking, several factors are considered. Your cooler, the quality of silicone on your chip, as well as just how good the motherboard’s VRM and MOSFETs are. The motherboards we have listed here are built for overclocking. However, at the same time, we would like you to double-check that you are getting an X570 chipset, and the motherboard should have a 10+ power phase design for good overclocking or else you will be running into stability issues.

B550 vs. X570: Which Motherboard is Best For Ryzen 9 5950x?

I have to be honest here, this is not the first time this question has reached me. I have answered this numerous times before, each time with a different processor. The B550 is no doubt one of the most capable motherboards that you are going to get your hands on. However, it is also very important to understand that from a performance standpoint, you will not be able to get the full potential of the Ryzen 9 5950X if you pair it with a B550 motherboard. As this is an enthusiast-grade CPU that is going to sip a lot of power, and not just that, it is also going to put a strain on the VRM/MOSFETs. Sure, you can run the Ryzen 9 5950X on your B550 motherboard, but you will be putting the strain on the motherboard, and there can be some severe performance issues and massive instabilities that could come your way. That is why we would recommend you to avoid choosing B550 for Ryzen 9 5950X and go for the X570 chipset, and that should run perfectly without any issues. The good news is that we have managed to achieve that with the list as you are getting a great overall list. We have managed to cover not just the more affordable motherboards but some of the highest-end ones. Rest assured, these motherboards will not run into any stability issues whatsoever as far as the overall usage is concerned. However, we would advise you that you should be updating to the latest BIOS on all these motherboards before you install the new Ryzen 5000 processor because otherwise, you might not be able to get any boot.

Question 1: – Which is the best motherboard for Ryzen 9 5950X?

Answer: When you are discussing the best motherboard for the Ryzen 9 5950X, the options are a lot. However, we would suggest that you either get the ROG Crosshair Formula VIII or the MSI MEG X570 Godlike, as these motherboards are uncompromising.

Question 2: Are B550 and X570 Motherboards Compatible with Ryzen 9 5950X?

Answer: Both the B550 and X570 motherboards are fully compatible with the Ryzen 9 5950X, but due to the higher TDP and overall power requirement of the Ryzen 9 5950X, we would suggest that you only go for the X570 for the best performance.

Question 3: Is X570 Worth It Over B550?

Answer: Both are excellent offerings, but if you want to get something that is best compatible with the 5950X, then the X570 is a sensible choice because of its higher-end components.

Question 4: What is the major difference between X570 and B550?

Answer: There are many differences, the most prominent being that the X570 has more PCI-E lanes. Not just that, the better X570 motherboards are also using better VRMs and MOSFETs. Which are crucial in ensuring that if your CPU is power-hungry, there are no performance issues that come in the way.

Question 5: What chipset is Ryzen 9 5950x?

Answer: The Ryzen 9 5950X is an AM4 socket processor that supports both B550 and X570 chipsets, but both of these chipsets will require a BIOS update before they can run the new CPU.
